Travel journal: Lisbon

Lisbon had been on my travel list for a long time. Its creative, laidback energy drew me in along with its vibrant colours, architecture, art and cafés. Five days was just the right amount of time to see the main attractions while still being able to explore spontaneously.

Day 1

  • Stayed near Praça das Flores. A lively area close to supermarkets, cafés and restaurants, all within walking distance to local sights

  • Lunch at Neighbourhood Lisbon

  • Dinner and drinks at Honest Greens rooftop bar with panoramic city views

Day 2

  • Breakfast at Copenhagen Coffee Club

  • Explored LX Factory - a creative hub of shops, cafés and street art

  • Walked through Jardim da Estrela

  • Visited MAAT (Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology). I loved its minimalist and futuristic design

  • Walked the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, a monument featuring 33 prominent figures from the Age of Discovery

  • Stopped at Pastéis de Belém, the oldest pastry shop in Lisbon

  • Walked up to Jardim Botânico da Ajuda

  • Cycled back along the seafront

  • Fresh salad and kombucha at Honest Greens in Principe Real

  • Gelato at Giola Gelato in Praça das Flores

Day 3

  • Matcha pancakes and peach juice at Comoba

  • Pistachio matcha latte from Hale Matcha - a small, independent specialty matcha café

  • Explored Gulbenkian Museum and Gardens. I really liked its modernist design and how nature was the main focus

  • Lunch at Tomorrow at 9

  • Reformer Pilates session

  • Evening walk and shopping at Claus Porto, the oldest perfume shop in Lisbon

  • Pastel de nata at Manteigaria

  • Matcha at Iconico
